Hi Hack Manhattan,

I am looking to hire experienced Makers to teach workshops at a Queens Library's Queensbridge location. Please see attached job description and application instructions, or see below.

Job & Business Academy Mission
Queens Library’s Job & Business Academy provides specialized training and learning opportunities with an emphasis on technology, training, to job seekers, aspiring entrepreneurs, and business owners.  By combining the Job & Business Academy’s individual counselling, in person workshops, and online learning opportunities with complementary services provided by the library’s Adult Learner Program and New Americans Program, Queens Residents participating in training will become better prepared for the modern workforce.

The Makerspace Program at Queensbridge Library and You
The Makerspace Program at Queensbridge Library is a new program aimed at fostering hands-on STEAM learning opportunities for and with communities at Queensbridge Houses specifically and Long Island City in general. In its inaugural six months of programming the Queensbridge Makerspace Program will offer expert-lead workshops on 3-D printing, Arduino, and sewing machines. We are seeking Makerspace Program Presenters who are experts in their crafts and are excited to share their expertise with the public in a multicultural environment.

Makerspace Program Presenters will be paid by contract on a per-workshop basis.

Qualifications
• Demonstrated experience in 3-D printing, Arduino, or sewing with sewing machines
• Instructional experience preferred
• Must be able to plan and lead workshops with little to no supervision
• Sufficient knowledge to act as the resident expert during workshop hours
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, especially as demonstrated in multicultural environments
• Adaptable; Ability to teach to different skill levels in single workshop and to adjust to unforeseen circumstances with students and equipment
• Bilingual a plus but not required
