Yeah, unless we can launch spacecraft from LGA or JFK, NYC's pretty much the Wrong Place for such a field. 

No large construction & testing areas, no landscape resembling Mars, the Moon, or anything else relevant.

Congrats on your 3D Rover, though! I hope Hot Wheels aren't too mad at you ;-)
